Manchester United have not given up hope on signing Udinese winger Alexis Sanchez just yet and the reason for that is Barcelona may not be able to afford the Chilean if they decide to go ahead and buy Cesc Fabregas.
So all we have to do is just waiting patiently and see what happens at the Nou Camp. Sanchez has made it clear that he wants to join Barcelona but if they can not afford him then he must come and join United rather than staying at Udinese.
United are standing firm on the £28million offer made to Udinese and they would be silly not to take it if Barcelona can not match it.
Manchester United are battling it out with Manchester City for the signature of Arsenal midfielder Nasri. In my opinion, I will be shocked if Arsenal do allow Nasri to leave and join either one of us. Selling a star player to a rival club is not common in the transfer market today. But where a lot of money is involved, anything can happen especially since Arsene Wenger loves to deal with money but never spends it. Wenger will see that they bought Nasri for £12million but now they can sell him for £20million, in business terms, that makes sense.
But now my question to you is, “Is Nasri the right player we need at United?”
According to former Old Trafford star Paddy Crerand, Nasri is just what we need.
“The player that interests me most at present is Nasri,” said Crerand. “I’m sure he can do the midfield job for us and become the play maker at Old Trafford.
“He is right up there with the Barcelona players like Xavi and [Andres] Iniesta in my book but the talk of [Cesc] Fabregas going to the Nou Camp could potentially jeopardise that one.
“The problem that Arsenal face is the length of contract, surely they can’t let Nasri go on a free next year? I doubt they will let both players leave Arsenal so I suspect an interesting few days ahead.
“The team go out to the States on July 10th and that means we will probably go all out to bring any targets that we have into the club to enable them to be part of the full pre-season.
“It makes a big difference believe me if players can enjoy that full period with the rest of the team. If there is another signing to make I expect it will be in the next 10 days.”
What are your thoughts on Nasri?
Manchester United have been linked with moves for Arsenal’s Nasri and Spurs Luka Modric this summer as we seek to make more quality additions to our squad following the retirement of Paul Scholes.
Now according to the Telegraph, Sir Alex Ferguson is not too bothered about signing Modric as he would rather have Nasri. Spurs have come out and said that they are not going to sell Modric but we all know if we offer them a decent amount of money for Modric then they would sell him to us.
“I wish to make it absolutely clear, as I have said previously, that none of our key players will be sold this summer,” Spurs chairman Levy said.
“We are building a team for the future to consistently play at the highest level and retaining quality players is crucial to that.
“In respect of Luka Modric, we are not prepared to sell, at any price, to Chelsea Football Club or any other club.”
Who would you rather Manchester United sign between the two?
Sir Alex Ferguson means business this summer. After winning the Premier League last season and guiding us to another Champions League final, one would have thought that our squad would be good enough to do it again next season, but not Sir Alex. He is going shopping this summer!
With Phil Jones already signed and Ashley Young to follow soon, Manchester United are now favourites to sign Alexis Sanchez from Udinese for £27million. Sanchez is a target for the likes of Barcelona, Real Madrid and Chelsea but lure of playing for such a great club like Manchester United will prove to be too good an offer to turn down for Sanchez.
It is reported in The Sun that David Gill flew out to Spain yesterday (Tuesday) to meet Udinese president Gino Pozzo yesterday - ironically in Barcelona, where the Italian supremo lives - to thrash out an agreement.
Yes! We have beaten those scousers again! Liverpool were getting all excited that they had signed Jordan Henderson from Sunderland and they were hoping Blackburn central defender, Phil Jones would also join them but Jones has opted to join us!
The England Under 21 centre-half will sign a five-year deal at Old Trafford after completing a medical this afternoon (Wednesday). United have been tracking Jones for the last 18 months, but their hand was forced when Liverpool recently entered the market for the 19-year-old stopper.
Now with Jones on board what does that mean for our other central defenders? Will Jones be in the starting line-up or are Ferdinand and Vidic still our best partnership? I think it will be hard for Jones to displace Vidic but with Rio’s injury problems, he may just get in ahead of Rio. One now wonders what that means for Smalling and Evans as they will now go further down the pecking order.
Whilst many clubs are going crazy this summer with transfers, Manchester United are as ever going to be smart in their dealings and add some quality players to the already strong side. We will not be crazy and go spend £20million on a no name player like Jordan Henderson as Liverpool have just done. We are wiser and smarter than that and would rather spend £20million on a proven player like Ashley Young.
We can speculate all day about who we will sign but one thing is for sure, Sir Alex is look at adding atleast three players this summer.
Ferguson said: “I’m looking at possibly a couple, maybe three signings, which would boost our overall quality in the team.
“Of course, the way we’re looking at it is we have Ryan Giggs coming towards the end of his career and Gary Neville’s already retired.
“Edwin van der Sar announced his retirement and there are holes we want to plug in terms of the safety and security of the team.
“We’ve got some excellent young players but we’ve got some ideas in mind and hopefully we can get them put in place.”
No! No! Manchester United is not after that useless player called Fernando Torres. Manchester United are reportedly keeping close tabs on Chivas starlet Erick Torres. The 18-year old player who replaced Chicharito after the striker’s move to Old Trafford last summer has already scored 6 goals for Chivas in 19 appearances.
Torres, nicknamed ‘El Cubo’, stands 5ft 11in and is described as being strong in the air and with a powerful shot.
The Telegraph report that Ferguson’s scouts want to find a new generation of talent from Latin America following the success of Hernandez, who is currently playing for Mexico in the Concacaf Gold Cup in the United States.
Maybe Sir Alex should give Torres another season at Chivas and see if he is really the real deal before he signs him. if he turns out to be another Chicharito then we will be happy.
Sir Alex is in the market for a new midfielder to replace Paul Scholes. Many names are being linked with United right now but one that Sir Alex really wants is Spurs’ Luka Modric. Manchester United have been told that they will have to pay over £20million to sign Modric.
The Manchester United boss is a big fan of the Croatian playmaker, 25 years old and he now plans to test Tottenham’s resolve by putting in a bid.
Spurs do not want to sell Modric but a top White Hart Lane source says a deal will be inevitable.
He said: “The word is that Sir Alex has already spoken directly to Harry and said how much he admires Modric and how much he wants him.
“And as much as Harry wants to keep him he knows United can make an offer we just can’t refuse.”
What do you think of us signing Luka Modric?
As our search for a replacement for Paul Scholes continues, one name that has entered the race is Arsenal’s Samir Nasri. The Frenchman is not sure if he will be signing a new contract and that has opened the door for him to join United.
Nasri said: “I don’t know if I will sign a new contract with Arsenal.
“Discussions are ongoing and we’ll talk about it this week. Do I want to go to United? First, we must see if it’s real.”
This statement has opened up a lot of debate today with United and Arsenal fans. Nasri was one of Arsenal’s best players last season and he would be a welcome addition to United as we need someone to try fill in Scholes’ boots.
One person who does not want Nasri to join United is Arsene Wenger! Wenger insisted: “What is certain is we won’t be selling Nasri to Manchester United.”
Money talks Arsene! If we can afford the £25million you want for Nasri and if he wants to leave you to join us then you can not stop him.
I love Manchester United with all my heart but if there is one player that I do not like at Manchester United it is Nani. I know many fans feel the same way about him as I do, then there are some who love him to bits.
When I heard that Real Madrid are considering putting in a bid for Nani, was was over the moon! If we can sell Nani and get some decent cash for him and use it to strengthen our squad then I will be very happy. The papers are saying that Madrid may be willing to offer £40million, although I do not believe that is true as Nani is not worth that much.
Nani is one upset man, firstly he is not happy about his current £70 000 a week contract and he wants more, secondly he is not happy about being left out of the starting line-up in the Champions League final. I say, if Madrid want Nani, then they should come get him and then we can go and buy Ashley Young from Aston Villa.
